And Albion will be delighted to see it paying off out on the pitch.
The on-loan Seagulls playmaker scored twice for RB Leipzig as they beat Hoffenheim 5-0 in the top-tier Bundesliga.
He then headed off with Germany under-21s for two crucial Euros qualifier.
Gruda was credited with an assist as well as his double strike.
He said: “It's my first brace in the Bundesliga, so of course I'm happy.
“I came here because it's a great club. I enjoy playing football here.
“I'm really into training. The guys are fantastic.
“A great team, a great club. It's simply a pleasure to be here.”
Gruda had previously scored and had an assist in a game against Wolfsburg.
Attention will switch to under-21s games at home to Northern Ireland and away to group leaders Greece.
Germany, who were beaten finalists at the last Euros, trail Greece by three points at the top of the group having lost at home to them earlier in the season.
Gruda is one of a few players who have had a chance to nail down the No.10 berth in Fabian Hurzeler’s team but have never quite managed.
They include Matt O’Riley and Georginio Rutter, who have both been on the bench recently, the currently on-loan Facundo Buonanotte, Julio Enciso and even Andrew Moran in pre-season.
Gruda has also played on the right for the Seagulls and it was from such a position that he scored his double.
