Amadou Onana and Youri Tielemans
Galatasaray are preparing a big move for Aston Villa midfielder Amadou Onana in the summer, with him considered as a dream signing.
Haber Sari Kirmizi report on comments from Galatasaray reporter Kağan Dursun today. according to his information, Onana is the big signing that manager Okan Buruk wants this summer.
“Okan Buruk has a dream of bringing Amadou Onana to the midfield,” he said.
“It’s a difficult transfer, but at the coach’s request, an inquiry will be made at the end of the season. Even if Onana isn’t available, the coach wants a midfielder of that profile.”
Aston Villa resistance
While Dursun has personally requested the 24-year-old be signed from Aston Villa, a transfer is seen as difficult.
Amadou Onana is currently tied to Aston Villa until 2029 and remains a regular under Unai Emery. This season has 31 appearances in all competitions, with 2203 minutes in total.
That’s despite continuing to be plagued by hamstring and muscles injuries. Without those, his appearances and minutes would undoubtedly be higher.
High asking price
There’s also a question of price. Dursun makes no mention of a potential fee, but Aston Villa’s demands would surely be high.
The Villans paid €59.35m to sign Onana in 2024 and Transfermarkt rate him at €45m curretly. Galatasaray would have to dig deep to get him out of Villa Park, even with their big spending over the last few windows.
There’s even the chance that figure will rise if the midfielder has a good World Cup with Belgium. Even if he doesn’t, the three years remaining on his deal mean Aston Villa hold the power.
Still, it appears the idea is there for Galatasaray, thanks to their manager’s request. The Turkish side have not hesitated to target big-name signings in recent windows, and Onana appears to be the next on their list.
