Not just Sandro Tonali or Bruno Guimaraes - Man United target another £80m Newcastle United star

Lewis Hall is contracted until 2028 and Newcastle United have no plans to sell the star.

Manchester United have reportedly identified Lewis Hall as a potential long-term replacement for Luke Shaw.

Hall has come of age at Newcastle United over the last 18 months. He signed for the Magpies in 2023 after making just 12 first-team appearances for Chelsea.

After a slow start, the 21-year-old has developed into one of the brightest Premier League talents and is currently on England duty. The left-back has arguably been Newcastle’s best player this season.

Manchester United interest

Sky Sports report that Hall is on Man United’s radar due to his recent heroics on Tyneside. As mentioned, the Three Lions international has been a rare highlight in an otherwise underwhelming campaign at St James’ Park.

Hall showcased he can perform against the best players in the world when he kept Lamine Yamal quiet earlier this month. At 21, his better days are well ahead of him and he has been backed to become England’s left-back for the next decade.

Newcastle United stance

The noise will likely frustrate those at Newcastle given the speculation surrounding other stars. Man United have also been linked with moves for Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali in recent weeks.

It is understood that the Magpies are open to renewing Hall’s terms to make him a top earner. His current deal will have two years left to run at the end of the season.

There is an acceptance on the player’s end that Newcastle - and Eddie Howe have been crucial for his development. Given his age, there is no rush for a transfer, with the Hall family also having strong black-and-white connections.

‘Nerve-wracking’ - Lewis Hall admission

Hall was put up in front of the national press pack earlier this week after earning an England recall. Speaking honestly, the Toon ace admitted to feeling nervous, knowing he must impress to cement a World Cup spot.

“There are two ways you can look at it,” Hall told reporters. “It can be quite nerve-racking knowing that this is the last opportunity to maybe impress.

“But at the same time, you play so many games in the season. I think they all know the way that you like to play. And I think this is just another chance for you to show not only what you can do on the pitch, but what you’re like off the pitch.

“So I’m just looking to be as happy as possible and enjoy my football here. Hopefully, it will put me in a good position.”
