Surprising talent selected for Ipswich Town friendly as Nuno looks for answers | West Ham News

With several key members of his senior squad away on international duty, Nuno Espirito Santo’s remodelled West Ham United side played out a behind-closed-doors friendly today against Ipswich Town, reported this afternoon.

The result may have been a 0 – 0 draw –

But the purpose was to keep match fitness. According to exWHUemployee, there were a number of academy players brought on for the final twenty minutes.

Whilst there was no sign of the return to full match fitness of Jean Clair Todibo or Crysencio Summerville, a couple of interesting additions were spotted:

‘Todibo and Summerville did not feature but youngsters Orford, Medine and Cummings got 20 minutes at the end of the game. .. Mo Kante was also involved. Adama Traore played the full 90 minutes as well.”

Whilst Lewis Orford has senior squad caps to his name, this is the first time teenagers Jephthah Medine and Dan Cummings have been featured (albeit for a ‘friendly‘) in West Ham’s senior squad, to the best of my knowledge (unless anyone else knows different!):

It certainly seems Nuno is casting the net far and wide across the academy in search of options and inspiration to add to his still paper thin resources.

A couple of names to keep an eye on and see if they pop up in regular training sessions in the future.
