Report: What is now being said about Newcastle United star Lewis Hall at England's training base

Lewis Hall is one of few Newcastle United players to emerge from this season with any credit and it would be brilliant to see him rewarded for that by England head coach Thomas Tuchel.

Indeed, Hall has been one of Newcastle’s best players this season, establishing himself as one of the best left-backs in world football along the way.

As such, Hall is back in the England squad just before the World Cup and has a chance to prove himself to Tuchel over the coming days.

The Newcastle star is expected to feature for the Three Lions against Uruguay on Friday night as he bids to nail down a starting spot ahead of the showpiece tournament later this summer.

Fortunately, it seems like he’s making a good impression.

Lewis Hall is impressing for England and proving to be a hit

That’s because, according to The Daily Mail, there is a lot of talk about Hall at England’s training base. In fact, he’s said to be proving a “hit” at St George’s Park.

Reporter Craig Hope claims that “all of the chatter” is that the left-back role is Hall’s to win heading into the World Cup.

With Luke Shaw not involved right now, Hall is the only natural left-back in the squad. Djed Spence, Tino Livramento and Nico O’Reilly are all options, but none of them are specialists in that particular position.

Hall made his professional debut under Tuchel at Chelsea and already has two caps for his country.

A foot injury sustained in early 2025 just before Newcastle won the Carabao Cup derailed his progress but the 21-year-old has returned to fine form this season, during a chaotic campaign on Tyneside.

Hall’s impressive season at club level will hopefully see him rewarded on the grandest stage.

The left-back spot was a problem position for England at Euro 2024. It won’t be if Hall plays in the United States later this summer.
