Leeds United are fighting to stay in the Premier League, to which Marcelo Bielsa believes fellow title-winner Daniel Farke has what it takes.
With international football taking the headlines this week, we’re seeing Marcelo Bielsa back in the country, which unsurprisingly takes a lot of attention from the Leeds fans.
All focus for him is on his side’s friendly with England on Friday night. However, he had chance in his press conference to acknowledge United.
Marcelo Bielsa weighs in on Daniel Farke’s chances of Leeds United survival
Bielsa and Farke have crossed paths three times when the Argentine was in the Elland Road dugout. While Farke was at Carrow Road, Bielsa won twice while Farke won once.
You’d imagine there’s a great respect there, after Farke’s Norwich beat Bielsa’s Leeds to promotion. And, the Uruguay boss backs the Leeds manager to come out of the relegation scrap intact.
Bielsa sat in front of the press on Thursday to preview his Uruguay’s clash against the Three Lions on Friday night.
Included in that was a question about his former employers Leeds. Bielsa was asked how he thinks Leeds are faring in the survival bid. And, whether he thinks Farke will keep the side up.
“I hope Leeds keeps its place in the Premier League, where it belongs,” Bielsa began.
“It’s an established institution, it has the resources, structure, organisation and the players to maintain its position.”
Marcelo Bielsa throws backing behind Leeds United manager Daniel Farke
It’s good to see Bielsa give his backing to Farke. We are on a good path and Farke deserves credit for getting us in a position where we’re four clear with seven games to play.
Bielsa is right in the sense that we do have a feeling of belonging in this league. It was something he felt first-hand, and something Farke feels as well.
Hopefully, we can get over the line. Because, we can clearly see that Bielsa is confident that Farke is the man to get the job done.
