West Ham confim that academy player has left the club on loan

West Ham United have confirmed that young striker Josh Landers has joined Boreham Wood on loan for the rest of the season.

The forward links up with fellow West Ham loanee Junior Robinson in Hertfordshire as Boreham Wood look to reach the Football League for the first time in their 78-year history.

Striker Landers is one of West Ham’s most exciting young players, having scored nine goals in 30 games this season at U21 level, as well as previously nine in 12 outings for the U18s.

It has not always been easy for the 19-year-old, however, particularly after a four-month goal drought that was only recently ended.

Now, he’ll get his chance in senior men’s football.

Landers joins Boreham Wood

A statement on West Ham United’s official website read: “He could make his debut for Luke Garrard’s team when they make the long trip to Truro City on Saturday.

“Everyone at West Ham United wishes Josh the very best for his loan spell at Boreham Wood.”

Boreham Wood are fourth in the National League table and harbour hopes of reaching the Football League for the first time in their history.

The Hertfordshire club, of course, beat a West Ham academy side in the National League Cup final on penalties earlier this month, a game in which Landers played.

The forward joined West Ham from Scottish side Hibs in January 2025 following a successful trial period.

The Hibs academy has produced some fine players over the years and the teenager was able to break into the first team at the age of 16.

Indeed, Landers has been hailed by people who work in the West Ham academy, and it will be interesting to see if he can translate that into a senior setting in Hertfordshire.
