Jordan James has handed Leicester an injury scare

Leicester City have been dealt a potential injury blow after Jordan James was forced off during Wales' crucial World Cup qualifier against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The City midfielder, on loan from Rennes, departed before the hour mark, moments after Dan James' moment of magic put Wales ahead. James winced as he made his way off the pitch, with Swansea City's Liam Cullen coming on in his place.

The 21-year-old seemed to sustain the problem following a tackle on Amar Mecic, which was not clearly visible on television replays. The incident came shortly after Harry Wilson weaved past three Bosnia defenders before being brought down, with referee Istvan Kovac continuing to adopt a lenient approach.

England and Nike have launched the new home, away and goalkeeper kits to be worn at this summer's FIFA World Cup.

While Cullen's substitution seemed to have been planned in advance, the early indications regarding James' withdrawal were concerning. James has been superb for City this season and any injury would be a huge blow for Gary Rowett's 22nd-placed side in their relegation battle.

With ten goals and four assists to his name in the Championship this season, James has been a key player for Rowett's men. James, whom Rowett coached at Birmingham City before the former's move to France in 2024, missed six games with a hamstring injury but recently made his return.

"I think we’re pretty much as we were," Rowett said of his side before the stalemate with Watford last time out. "We've had Jannik (Vestergaard) and Harry Souttar training in parts of sessions on certain days.

"We're still trying to manage them for different reasons. I don’t anticipate either of those will be involved. Particularly Souts, who has been out for a long time. There's definitely no chance of that.

"Jannik is a conversation but I still don't think he’s quite ready. I’ll have a chat with him tomorrow. We don’t have any fresh injuries. I would imagine after the international break it’ll be stronger conversation.

"We've gone from trying to get people on the bench, for parts of the game, so the bench looks a little stronger...Now we can make slightly better, informed decisions on what the player needs and what the team needs."
