It proved to be another costly defeat, with the gap to safety now stretching to 10 points with only seven games remaining.

But the Clarets must wait to put it right, with the March international break now fully in swing.

That accounts for two of the three weeks, but the FA Cup quarter finals are also being held on the resumption of the domestic campaign at the start of April.

That means by the time Burnley return to action – against Brighton on Saturday, April 11 – 21 days will have passed since their last game.

While many of Burnley’s players have since jetted off around the world to link up with their respective nations, plenty will remain.

When asked what is the plan between now and the Brighton fixture, Parker said after the Fulham game: “We'll take some time, but we'll be back in and we'll be working tirelessly and working hard.

“There were a lot of positives today, I honestly believe that. For 60 minutes, and we've come into a tough place, I watched their last game here against Spurs. They were very, very good and I thought we played really, really well today for parts of the game.

"We need to keep improving on that, we need to keep going on that, so that's what we endeavoured to do.

“We will rest up now. We will get back to work, keep learning and keep developing, as well as keep understanding the mistakes and the elements what we need to improve on, while also understanding the improvements we have made.

“While of course those lines can be blurry at this moment in time when you don’t win a game and you can dilute that, I don’t think that is the case.

“It’s something we need to address in certain areas, but we will get back to work fully committed and we will go away.”
