Leeds United have an FA Cup quarter-final scheduled after the international break. However, more importantly, they will face a fight to survive in the last seven Premier League games of the season.

They are four points clear of the relegation zone, but Leeds have not won any of their last six league games. The Whites have not scored a goal in 419 minutes of league football.

However, the Leeds boss could see one of his key players pick up an injury in the coming days while chasing his dream to play in the World Cup this summer.

Gabriel Gudmundsson is set to put his body on the line

The Leeds defender was in the Sweden team that beat Ukraine 3-1 in the World Cup playoff semi-finals on Thursday night to progress to the final.

Sweden are set to take on Poland on Tuesday night to decide their World Cup fate, and there are doubts over his involvement.

Gabriel Gudmundsson picked up a knock in the Ukraine game and still carried on, playing through the pain barrier. He was seen wearing an ice pack around his legs after the game.

However, the defender has insisted that he will be fit to play in the big game against Poland on Tuesday night despite the knock against Ukraine.

He was quoted as saying by Sweden Herald: “It’s the same as always.

“Take care of your body and make sure you’re ready for Tuesday.”

With Gudmundsson preparing to put his body on the line, Farke will have to keep his fingers crossed and hope that the defender does not aggravate the injury.

Leeds need him for the run-in

Gabriel Gudmundsson has been one of the most important players in the team since he joined the club in the last summer transfer window.

He looked defensively solid early in the season and quickly adapted to the wing-back role when Daniel Farke shifted to a 5-3-2 formation in the middle of the season.

If he gets injured, Farke has the option of playing James Justin in the left wing-back role. However, he would prefer to have the Swede fit and ready for the run-in.

Leeds are desperate to avoid any injuries during the break, but with Gudmundsson ready to put his body on the line, there is a risk of the Whites losing a key player in the coming days.
