UEFA impose sanctions after five incidents during Lille vs Aston Villa Europa League tie

UEFA have dished out heavy fines after incidents during Aston Villa’s Europa League tie against Lille.

Villa faced Lille over two legs in the last 16 of the Europa League earlier this month.

Unai Emery’s side won the tie 3-0 on aggregate, after a 1-0 victory in the first leg in France and a 2-0 triumph in the second leg at Villa Park.

They will now face Bologna in the quarter-finals of the competition as they aim to end the club’s long wait for silverware.

UEFA have confirmed disciplinary action from the first leg against Lille on March 12.

They have hit Lille with fines totalling €82,750 for five incidents.

They have been fined €26,000 after blocking public passageways and €25,000 after objects were thrown by home fans.

The Ligue 1 club were also fined €4,250 as fireworks were lit inside the stadium, €17,500 after a message that is not fit for a sports event was transmitted and €10,000 for a late kick-off.
