Villa are sweating on the fitness of Jadon Sancho after the winger suffered a shoulder injury in Friday’s friendly with Elche.
The on loan Manchester United star left the pitch with his right arm in a sling after landing awkwardly during the first half of the 2-1 defeat in Spain.
Sancho will now be further assessed by Villa’s medical staff with boss Unai Emery hoping the issue is not serious.
The 26-year-old had been among the club’s brightest performers in back-to-back wins against Lille and West Ham, laying on goals for skipper John McGinn in both matches.
Any enforced absence now would be a significant blow for Villa, who are chasing success in both the Premier League and Europe over the season’s final two months.
Villa are back in action on April 9 when they play the first leg of a Europa League quarter-final away at Bologna.
Emery’s men, who sit fourth in the Premier League, then visit Nottingham Forest on April 12.
Villa have a six-point cushion inside the top-five with seven matches of the league season remaining.
Sancho was among the non-international members of Villa’s squad who travelled to Murcia on Wednesday for a warm weather training camp, which included the friendly with Elche.
