Rangers want to sign Sunderland player who could make his international debut this week - report

Rangers have begun their plans for the summer transfer window and have Sunderland striker Finn Geragusian on their radar.

The 18-year-old is rated highly by Black Cats manager Regis Le Bris, who has asked him to train with the first team on several occasions.

The Armenian is yet to make his first-team debut for the Premier League side, but has been a regular for the Under-21s, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists in 34 games.

Finn Geragusian could make his Armenia debut vs Belarus

According to the Northern Echo, Rangers and Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for the teenage striker.

This week could potentially be a career-defining one for the Sunderland youngster as he could make his international debut.

Armenia take on Belarus in an international friendly on Sunday, and Geragusian could be given a chance to make a mark for his national team.

He received his first senior call-up earlier this month and is now on the verge of finally representing his country.

Geragusian would now be looking for his Sunderland debut as well, despite coming close in recent months.

The teenager travelled with the senior players for the FA Cup tie at Oxford and also made the bench in the next round at Port Vale, but Le Bris did not bring him on.

What will Geragusian offer Rangers?

The Armenian stands at 6ft 3in tall and his tall frame could see Rangers deploying him as a target man.

He has also been a reliable goal scorer at the youth level, so having someone clinical in front of goal is always an added advantage.

While he may not be ready to be a first-team regular, he would be a handy long-term investment who could be the third-choice striker.

Bojan Miovski and Danilo both could leave this summer, so the 18-year-old would fit in well as a squad player who could get 10-15 minutes off the bench every other game while he plays regularly for the reserves.

It remains to be seen if Sunderland allow him to leave, as they could have plans for him to become a first-team player there as well.
