West Ham ace shares how he spends the month of Ramadan

WEST Ham United have released a unique insight into how elite athletes spend the holy month of Ramadan, as defender and Senegal international Malick Diouf brings fans a first person understanding of his faith, how he trains and how he spends the month of Ramadan.

In the video, Diouf speaks on the importance of his faith, how he observes Ramadan, the challenges of fasting as an elite footballer and reflects on how West Ham supported him throughout the month. The 21-year-old who has just spent his month of observing Ramadan in the UK, speaks positively on the support he had from his teammates, coaches and everyone connected with the Club, talking in more detail on the Club’s Iftar event and other support he received.

The video explains in more detail key elements of Islam, Diouf’s daily life during Ramadan and his own personal passion, guided by his faith, to be able to give back to those less fortunate and support the community however he can. He also discusses how he spends Friday prayers with other Muslim colleagues and teammates from across the Club, expressing his delight in being able to share this important part of his faith with people close to him.

The Senegalese international also discusses in detail how he ensures he maintains energy levels throughout month; touches on previous experiences he’s had in other club’s and outlines how his own diet during the month so he could continue as a key player and maintain his performance levels throughout Ramadan.
