Leeds United have confirmed a new appointment to their board following fresh investment into the club.
Greek philanthropist Andreas Dracopoulos has joined the board of directors following what Leeds say is a "personal investment" into the club. Dracopoulos joins a board that is now made up of chairman Paraag Marathe, vice-chairman Andrew Schwartzberg, and regular board members Peter Lowy, Eugene Schneur and Robbie Evans.
Born and raised in Athens, Greece, Dracopoulos has supported Leeds for over 50 years and is well known to the 49ers.
It is understood Dracopoulos is a long-time acquaintance of Marathe and as a lifelong Leeds supporter, he has talked for many years of making an investment into the club.
Dracopoulos is the co-chairman of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), a private, international philanthropic organisation that supports projects worldwide which they said is aimed at "achieving a broad, lasting, and positive impact for society at large".
In addition to benefitting over 3,100 global non-profits through SNF, Dracopoulos has also supported many charitable foundations and initiatives in the arts, culture and medicine.
In a short statement Leeds say, "Born and raised in Athens, Greece, Dracopoulos is a long-time supporter having obtained his first official Leeds United Membership 50 years ago and brings a wealth of business and philanthropic experience to the club and community."
