Everton have seen yet another fixture moved to a Monday night slot.
The Toffees have already had six Monday night games this season after moving to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with frequent changes making it hard for fans to build a connection to the new ground.
David Moyes even admitted he felt playing on Saturday was key to Everton defeating Chelsea 3-0 last time out, saying: “I don’t know if the 5:30pm kick-off helped that (atmosphere) instead of an 8pm kick-off on a Monday night…but obviously it was a really really good night and a big thank you to the supporters for the part they played in helping us today.”
Now, after Everton fans learned the upcoming clash against Manchester City had been moved from Saturday 2nd May to Monday 4th May, the Toffees are set to equal a Premier League record.

Everton to move level with West Ham for most Monday games in a single campaign
Once Everton fulfil the upcoming game against Manchester City, it will mean the Toffees have played seven matches on a Monday this season. No side in Premier League history have been allocated more Monday fixtures, with West Ham also playing seven in the 1995/96 season.
Team and Season Monday Night Games (19:00 or later)
West Ham United – 1995/1996 7
Everton – 2025/2026 6
West Ham United – 2024/2025 5
West Ham United – 2005/2006 5

Nottingham Forest – 1996/1997 5
Manchester City – 2009/2010 5
West Ham United – 2000/2001 5
Manchester United – 1992/1993 5
West Ham United – 2020/2021 5
Manchester United – 1995/1996 5
Norwich City – 1992/1993 5
Wolverhampton Wanderers – 2020/2021 5
Liverpool – 1996/1997 5
Leeds United – 2020/2021 5
Chelsea – 2023/2024 5
Liverpool – 2009/2010 5
Crystal Palace – 2021/2022 5
Coventry City – 1994/1995 5
Not only that, but the Premier League appear to be ignoring one of their own rules completely.
The BBC suggested in November that no Premier League side is allowed to play more than five games on a Monday within one season. Discussing the topic of fixture congestion at Old Trafford and when the Red Devils could squeeze some games in, the BBC wrote: “As Manchester United have already been picked three times in the Monday slot, they can be selected only two more times.”

With Everton now heading for a seventh Monday night game, something is clearly wrong.
Everton will end the 2025/26 campaign having played seven of their 19 home games on a Monday, which is unacceptable in our eyes.

Hopefully, The Friedkin Group can have a stern word with broadcasters before next season to make sure this never happens again.
