Detail in David Moyes contract story suggests Everton are now more likely to sign Jack Grealish …

David Moyes is set to sign a new contract at Everton.

A new story from the Guardian states that the Glaswegian is ready to commit his future to the Toffees, with The Friedkin Group now preparing a new deal for the Everton boss – talks are expected to begin at the end of the season.

The Guardian interestingly added in their story that The Friedkin Group are also willing to give David Moyes a greater say in recruitment as part of his new contract, and there is an acceptance he prefers to work with older players, which we believe increases the chances of a permanent move for Jack Grealish.

Surely everyone is Moyes in now? 🤔

Why Jack Grealish to Everton would be far more likely if David Moyes pens a new deal

A story from iNews recently claimed that Moyes personally wants Grealish to stay at the Hill Dickinson Stadium beyond this season, with his loan from Manchester City expiring this summer.

Previously, The Friedkin Group may have been against committing to a permanent deal for a player now in his thirties. Since taking over in December 2024, the Americans have often prioritised younger options, such as Charly Alcaraz, Thierno Barry, Tyler Dibling, Adam Aznou and Merlin Rohl.

They have displayed a clear preference to sign players under the age of 25.

However, with The Friedkin Group accepting the fact Moyes prefers to work with older footballers, coupled with the news they are ready to give him more of a say in transfers, the chances of Grealish staying appear to have increased.

The 62-year-old has hardly used some of those aforementioned names this season. Aznou is yet to play in the Premier League, while Dibling and Rohl have just six Premier League starts between them.

What should Everton be willing to pay to bring back Grealish over the summer? 💰

Rather than plough on and continue to hand Moyes young talents he will not use, it sounds like The Friedkin Group are ready to let the Scot prioritise more experienced options, such as Grealish – who iNews say is also keen to turn his loan into a permanent move this summer.
