Sandro Tonali’s AC Milan faith is well known, and a report has claimed that he has his heart set on returning one day.
Tonali’s farewell to his boyhood club in the summer of 2023 was certainly one of the saddest moments in recent years for the Rossoneri fans. The reason is very simple: the midfielder has never hidden the fact that he is a Milanista, so it felt like one of their own leaving.
As MilanNews write, the midfielder himself also suffered greatly after his transfer to Newcastle which happened so quickly, but in his heart he knows that ‘sooner or later he will return to Milan’.
A bond to be renewed
Although his career is continuing to flourish elsewhere – given that he is regarded as one of the best in his position in a top league like the Premier League – there is still a yearning desire to one day come back ‘home’.
Yesterday, Tonali scored the decisive goal in Italy’s victory over Northern Ireland, and post-match he said it was the most important goal of his life, along with the one he scored for Milan against Lazio in the Scudetto-winning year.
In past interviews, Tonali has often spoken fondly of Milan and has never hidden the fact that he continues to support the club even though he now plays overseas. Obviously, he can’t say it openly, but in his mind, he’s convinced that sooner or later his future will be at Milan again.
Right now, a return is impossible because his transfer fee is unaffordable for any Italian club, but the feeling is that he’ll try to return to Milan because his connection to the club is too strong.
The fans will undoubtedly welcome him back with open arms, hopefully in the not too distant future, and maybe even with the captain’s armband available.
