David Moyes pushing for reunion with “brilliant” West Ham midfielder at Everton

David Moyes is pushing Everton to sign West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek this summer, according to a new report from Football Insider.

The Czech international has emerged as a target for the Toffees as they look to strengthen their midfield options ahead of next season. Moyes is said to be a key driver behind the interest, having previously worked closely with Soucek during his time in east London.

Everton are exploring several midfield options, particularly with Idrissa Gueye nearing the latter stages of his career and the need for fresh energy in the middle of the park becoming increasingly clear.

Soucek’s experience in the Premier League and his physical presence make him an appealing candidate.

However, a deal is far from guaranteed. Everton’s transfer strategy could shift depending on how their season ends, with the possibility of European qualification potentially leading them to pursue higher-profile targets.

Moyes a Big Fan of Soucek

Soucek has been a consistent performer for West Ham since arriving from Slavia Prague in 2020.

Initially joining on loan before making the move permanent, the midfielder quickly established himself as a key figure in the squad. Over the years, he has made more than 250 appearances for the club, contributing 46 goals and 13 assists — an impressive return for a central midfielder.

Moyes has long been an admirer of the 31-year-old, having brought him to the club and trusted him in crucial moments.

Reflecting on Soucek’s impact during his early days at West Ham, the manager said: “Have to say Tomas Soucek has been great. He has done a brilliant job.”

A reunion between Moyes and Soucek could make sense for both parties, particularly given their successful history together.

However, with uncertainty surrounding both clubs’ futures and transfer priorities, any move will depend on how the remainder of the season unfolds. If Everton do pursue the deal, Moyes will be hoping to once again rely on a player he clearly rates highly.
