The Entertainers return to the field to help lift Newcastle United gloom.
The Entertainers, Kevin Keegan’s great Newcastle United side, are set to return to action, for afternoon only in a charity game against a select media XI.
Legends such as Peter Beardsley, Steve Howey and Lee Clark will line up against some of the most recognisable names in the North East media, including NewcastleWorld quartet Liam Kennedy, Jordan Cronin, Dominic Scurr and Charlie Bennett.
The walking football clash will take place on Saturday, June 6 at Gateshead Leisure Centre and will be raising money for Age UK North Tyneside.
A statement confirming the event read: “With United fans kicking their feet over this enforced break, minds start to wander to warmer days and a World Cup on the Horizon.
“As a warm up to the biggest global event in football some of Kevin Keegan's 'Entertainers' will be lining up against a Media Select team for a game of walking football at Gateshead Leisure Centre at Midday on Saturday June 6th.
“Peter Beardsley will be leading the Magpies into battle and will be joined by the likes of Ruel Fox, Steve Howey, Lee Clark, Darren Peacock and Kevin Scott. There squad will be bolstered by Paul Robinson and Paul Brayson.
“The Media team will be managed by former 'Number 9' Joe Allon and feature Simon Pryde, Matthew Raisbeck and John Anderson from BBC Radio Newcastle, alongside Liam Kennedy, Dominic Scurr, Jordan Cronin, Ross Gregory, Charlie Bennett and Lee Ryder.”
