Wolves boss on pressure to prove himself ahead of key months

Rob Edwards admits he always feels the pressure to prove himself as he bids to secure long-term success at Wolves.

The head coach has been able to find some consistency in his side’s performances and results since the turn of the year, as they aim to finish the season on a high.

Despite that, Wolves remain bottom of the Premier League and are likely to be relegated to the Championship, with Edwards set to take next season’s promotion push.

When asked if he feels he still needs to prove himself, the head coach said: "Always, but that's whether you're top of the league or in our situation at the moment.

"I think anyone who's a head coach or a manager in this position, you're always having to prove yourself and try and improve constantly because we'll always be getting judged.

"That's fine, that's the business and that's the nature of it.

"There's a lot of short-termism in football as well. Right now there's a good feel around the place because we've won a couple of games against big clubs, but we're all aware how quickly things can change. The narrative can change very quickly.

"That doesn't mean if we were to lose a couple of games, that doesn't mean we're not as good or we're not working as hard and what we're doing is not right. That's just the business, no matter what position you're in, you're always under pressure.”

The relationship with the fans has improved amid Wolves’ resurgence, after a torrid season that saw Vitor Pereira lose his job as boss.

"They've been really good with us from the beginning and on board and appreciate the fact that I made a really a big decision to move from a club that was doing really well to come here when it was difficult here,” Edwards said on the supporters.

"Hopefully they appreciate that and understand how much I want to be here and how much I want us all to achieve something really, really good together and over a long term period.

"But there's nothing like results that builds that and a few of the results that we've had, especially at home under the lights recently, have been really special moments.

"Forget that it's a difficult season, I think they're big moments regardless of what was going on. I think people will remember those games for a long, long time, so that helps.”
