Leeds United brought Anton Stach in the summer, with the midfielder having come off the back of an outstanding season in the Bundesliga. The Whites managed to fight off interest from top European clubs to land him.

It was reported that Daniel Farke was keen on adding some steel in the middle of the park to compete with the intensity at Premier League level. And the addition of Anton Stach was just that; the German has been a key played in this Leeds side this season. For a player that came with a reputation of a defensive midfielder, Farke has transformed him into a real box-to-box threat.

Stach’s game has evolved and he has contributed a lot to the Whites this season. In the middle of the park, he wins the ball, can find that pass and most importantly he rarely loses possession. His performances got Julian Nagelsmann to call him up for the March international break.

Anton Stach given limited minutes on Germany return

Nagelsmann was hesitant bringing Stach into the fold, earlier this month he did say that the Leeds star fit a specific profile in his plans for the German team. But he eventually selected the 27-year old for the two friendlies this week. Germany were scheduled to play Switzerland and Ghana over the break.

Unfortunately for Stach, he was on the bench for most of the game and came on for just 10 minutes in the win over Switzerland. The midfielder was brought on to help sure up the result after the game looked to be favouring the Swiss side at the end. Stach made the best of his cameo, completing all of his passes and even getting a shot during hist time on the pitch.

Julian Nagelsmann’s stance on Leeds United star made clear

It is quite clear what the Germany boss thinks of Stach now; Julian Nagelsmann was hesitant to call him up in the first place. And his recent comments pointed to the fact that the midfielder did not rank highly in his plans ahead of the World Cup. Anton Stach’s cameo will surely not hurt his cause as the summer approaches. All he will have to do from now till the end of the season is keep performing at a high level. It will be hard to break into the Germany squad, but if anybody can play well enough to make it, the Leeds United man will stand out.
