The biggest dread any manager has when celebrating international calls for his players must be that one or more of them return from duty with their national side with an injury: [Jarrod Bowen](https://www.claretandhugh.info/west-ham-captain-bowen-wins-england-recall-despite-dowman-doubts/) seemed to escape harm last night in the ugly Uruguay showing that left Noni Madueke wearing a knee brace and Phil Foden limping off after a dreadful tackle from Barca defender Ronald Araujo.
**Dinos Mavropanos**, it seems, wasn’t so lucky. The West Ham defender – who has become an essential component of the new-look back line with Axel Disasi that has relaunched West Ham’s late bid to retain their Premier League status – took another heavy blow to the head on international duty for Greece against Paraguay.
Mavropanos was forced off, such was the extent of the head injury.

According to Greek News outlet [Portal](https://www.sportal.gr/podosfairo/article/ethniki-elladas-i-katastasi-ton-traymation-mayropanoy-kai-rota-2026032722402532731) :
_“Mavropanos suffered a blow to the head and will undergo the necessary medical examinations in order to determine the extent of the injury and whether there is a possibility of a concussion”_
Mavropanos and club manager Nuno Espírito Santo will now be sweating on the concussion protocol outcome -which could see him forced out of the Greeks’ game on Tuesday night as well as West Ham’s FA Cup quarter final – if deemed unfit.
West Ham fans will be sweating too on the fitness of **John Clair Todibo** to step up in Mavropanos’ absence if needed: The Frenchman was absent from West Ham’s last game at Villa Park having injured himself in the warm up.
