RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande could replace Mo Salah at Liverpool.

Yan Diomande remains a potential successor to Mo Salah at Liverpool, reports suggest.

The Reds are searching for their replacement for Salah after the winger announced he will leave at the end of the season. While Salah’s form has dipped this season, it will still be a huge challenge to fill the void of one of the greatest players in Anfield history.

Salah has been one of the best players in Europe since arriving from AS Roma in 2017, scoring 255 goals in 435 appearances - putting him third on the Reds’ all-time list - and helping win two Premier League titles, the Champions League, Club World Cup, FA Cup, two League Cups and UEFA Super Cup.

Several players are said to be on Liverpool’s radar. Diomande has been linked with a potential move to Merseyside for several months. Despite only being aged 19, he has been scintillating in his maiden campaign for RB Leipzig. Diomande has fired 11 goals and recorded eight assists in 29 appearances, with Leipzig sitting fourth in the Bundesliga.

Interestingly, the Ivory Coast international recently changed agencies and signed with RocNation Sports, which suggests that he could be preparing for a move elsewhere. According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Diomande is a serious option - but might cost around £85 million.

Plettenberg posted on X: “Confirmed once again that Yan #Diomande is among the top three preferred successors to Mo Salah at Liverpool. #LFC

“Various talks are ongoing behind the scenes regarding several candidates. RB Leipzig are demanding up to €100 million for 19 y/o Diomande. Therefore, a move to FC Bayern is currently still unrealistic.”

Meanwhile, Italian reporter Nicolo Schira suggested that Liverpool have held ‘positive talks’ and are preparing a bid. He posted on X: “#Liverpool are interested in signing #Leipzig’s winger Yan #Diomande (born in 2006). No official bid yet, but first positive talks. #LFC are preparing a bid to submit to Leipzig. Ready for the young talent a contract until 2031 with the option for 2032 to convince him.”
