Wolves fortunate as Premier League panel makes VAR Brentford ruling

Wolves have had their share of VAR decisions go against them over the years.

However, it has been revealed that they benefitted from what has now been ruled an incorrect call during their recent 2-2 draw with Brentford.

Goals from Adam Armstrong and Tolu Arokodare helped Wolves come from two down at the Gtech Community Stadium in their last game before a three week break.

Arokodare struck the bar late on - with Wolves close to snatching all three points.

However, it seems they were fortunate to get away with a point - as the Premier League’s Key Match Incidents Panel has confirmed the home side should have been awarded a penalty in the game.

The Bees were 2-0 up in the 41st minute when Kevin Schade was held back by Andre.

It wasn’t given on field and VAR did not intervene.

The KMI Panel has now ruled that the holding was ‘sustained’ and they voted 4:1 in favour of awarding a penalty.

However, they have also said that because the decision was not a clear and obvious error, VAR was right not to intervene.
