The moments you might have missed during Liverpool Legends' 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund at Anfield

Liverpool Legends drew 2-2 with Borussia Dortmund in the annual LFC Foundation charity match at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp made an emotional return to Anfield for the game as he took on the role of assistant to fellow Reds legend Sir Kenny Dalglish.
An early goal from Thiago Alcantara broke the deadlock before Jay Spearing scored a screamer to hand Liverpool a 2-0 advantage heading into the break. But Mohamed Zidan replied for the away side just past the hour mark, and Jan Koller later equalised to deny the Reds victory.
And we have rounded up a number of moments missed that you might have missed before, during and after the game at Anfield.
No escaping Salah
It has been a big week for Mohamed Salah after he announced on Tuesday that he will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season. Since then, you haven’t been able to escape the forward.
So it was fitting that on the televisions in the press room before the game was a show on LFCTV called 'Salah: All The Goals'.
You get the feeling that it won’t be the first time this show is shown over the coming weeks and months.
Jurgen is back
The cheers started for Steven Gerrard, and they only increased as Jurgen Klopp made his way towards the Anfield pitch. The German was back!
After shaking hands with a number of Dortmund staff, Klopp found himself in conversation with the match officials. And when one of them asked for a photo, he was only too happy to oblige.
Young Gerrand among the goals
Just like he did during his time as a Liverpool player, Gerrard led the hosts out for their pre-match warm-up. Joining him was his son, Lio, who was proudly wearing his Reds kit.
After showing off his skills, the youngster took advantage of the ungraded Kop-end net and spent a good couple of minutes just firing the ball into the back of it.
Who knows, maybe one day we will see another Gerrard scoring goals for Liverpool.
Webster performance
It wasn’t all just about the football at Anfield. Supporters in attendance were also treated to a performance by Jamie Webster ahead of kick-off. The Scouser certainly had fans singing along with him.
Just like the old times
Stood on the touchline wearing a Liverpool tracksuit with You'll Never Walk Alone playing, Klopp found himself back in familiar territory.
After the club's famous anthem finished playing, Klopp couldn’t help but applaud before waving to someone in the Main Stand.
Must do better
This might have been a Legends game, but Gerrard clearly still takes things very seriously. And the look on his face when he missed a good chance shortly after Thiago put the Reds ahead told the story of a man who knew he should have done better.

Gerrard's aggression
Clearly still frustrated with himself for missing a good chance, Gerrard lost a shin pad while attempting to win the ball back before sending Koller flying in a tackle. He’s still as competitive as he was as a player.
Thiago emotional during Jota tribute
Anfield paid its respects to those we have lost during the past year ahead of kick-off, and on 20 minutes the game was stopped by referee Jarred Gillett as those in attendance stood up, applauded and sang Diogo Jota’s iconic song.
And during the poignant scenes, Thiago appeared to be break down in tears as he remembered his friend, pulling his shirt over his face.

The midfielder arrived at Liverpool alongside Jota in September 2020, and they spent the next four years as team-mates.
New position
He might have been a centre-back during his playing days, but Ragnar Klavan found himself playing a little bit forward here. At one point in the first half he basically found himself as Liverpool's centre-forward.
Boos for match official
Even at Legends' games the match officials are being booed these days. Just before the half-hour mark, Gerrard raced clear, but Lewis Raper, the man on the far side with the flag, ruined the moment by putting his flag up. Anfield didn’t appreciate the decision, and boos soon followed.
Skertel left shocked
Spearing emphatically doubled Liverpool’s lead with a strike from range – and it left plenty inside shell-shocked. He wasn’t exactly known for his scoring during his Anfield career.
But on the pitch, Martin Skrtel couldn’t quite believe what he had seen either. And as he raced over to celebrate with the midfielder, he had his head on his hands as he did so.
Klopp in demand
He would never have done it during his time in charge of Liverpool, but ahead of the second half getting underway, Klopp was only too happy to sign autographs and get selfies with supporters sitting by the home dugout.
Crouch made to wait
Peter Crouch had already been involved in a long warm-up and when his time came to enter the field of play just before the hour mark he was made to wait as the ball wouldn’t go dead.
The former England international did his best to stay warm, but that didn't help him as he gave the ball away almost as soon as he came on.

Giants embrace
And it wasn’t long after Crouch came on that he found himself embracing Koller, who stands at 6ft 8in tall and is taller than the ex-England forward.
Pennant almost causes a kick off
It is not often that you see a player booked in a Legends game, but Pennant picked up a caution for taking out Lee Young-pyo just after Dortmund made it 2-2.
Members of the Dortmund bench were not impressed by the tackle, but thankfully Dirk Kuyt stepped in to play the role of peacemaker and ensure there wasn’t a kick-off.
Klopp fist bumps
After the full-time whistle had blown, the Klopp fist bumps were back at Anfield. Urged on by the Kop, the German delivered his trademark celebration, which was greeted by huge cheers.
