Football fans who regularly travel to watch their team play away from home have chosen the best place for half-time grub - Anfield.

The home of Liverpool FC came top out of all 20 Prem teams, scoring an unbeatable 13% of votes from supporters of all sides combined.

Spare a thought for visitors to city rivals Everton, where just 2% said they’d had a good feed at the new Hill Dickinson stadium, home of the Toffeemen.

Alongside Everton, with just 2% of the overall vote, were Wolves, Fulham, Crystal Palace, and Brentford.

Caroline Ward, 34, of Liverpool, said the food served up at Anfield was "top notch", adding: “I’ve been to almost all of our away games for the last few seasons, so I know what the food it like at all the grounds.

“The hot pies and fish and chips are great at Anfield, they even do a Scouse pie, which amazing.”

Burnley fan Bernard Cruickshank, 58, said he agreed, adding: “Liverpool know how to put on a decent bit of grub, the burgers and hot dogs are great.

“Last time I went to Everton was when they were still at Goodison Park last year…the food was nothing to write home about, in fact it was pretty dreadful, I got lukewarm chips and a pie that had seen better days.”

John Hill, of Coral, said: “While the battle on the pitch is as fierce as ever, the real top of the table clash is taking place over food.

“Our research shows Liverpool are battling Man Utd for the top slot, while at the other end of the table it's a bit of a relegation scrap for Everton and Wolves, who’ll be hoping their menus can find some better form next season.."
