Mo Salah FPL Records: Best Player in the History of FPL

FPL was first introduced ahead of the 2002/03 season & has seen many incredible players during its time, right from Henry, Lampard, Ronaldo, Van Persie, Mahrez, Aguero, Sanchez, and Kane. But the undisputed FPL Goat has to be Mo Salah, the Egyptian has outdone all other popular FPL options since joining Liverpool prior to the 17/18 season. Salah has registered 200+ FPL points in eight out of nine seasons since joining Liverpool & is 3rd in the all-time list for FPL points (2216 points*) behind only Lampard (2318 points) & Rooney (2338 points). In this blog, we take a trip down memory lane and look at Mo Salah’s FPL records and season-by-season numbers.

Highest scoring player in the season

King Mo’s first season with Liverpool was a treat for FPL managers with Salah registering 32 goals and 12 assists for a total of 303 FPL points. This was the first time a player scored more than 300 points in an FPL season.

Coming into the 2017/18 season, Salah didn’t have a great FPL history. He just had 34 points across 530 minutes for Chelsea before being loaned out to Fiorentina and Roma. But what followed in his first season at Liverpool was nothing short of history. Salah managed to get 32 goals, 12 assists, and 26 bonus points en route to his 303 points haul. He became the only player in FPL history to touch the magical 300-figure mark for the first time.

Fun fact: Mo Salah in that season had the second-highest BPS (881) score, but was only the fourth-highest for bonus points (26) with Vardy (28), teammate Firmino (29), and Kane (31) finishing with more bonus points than Salah.

In GW31 that season, Salah registered 4 goals and****an assist, scoring a whopping 29 points in a single game and breaking the record for most FPL points in a game, previously held by Lampard, who scored 28 points twice (vs Derby & Aston Villa). Salah’s record still stands to date.

Liverpool also had a dream run and reached the Champions League final for the first time since 2007, but lost the final to Real Madrid, with Mo Salah subbed off due to an injury in the game.

Highest scoring player in the season

Salah slowed down(from his lofty standards) the next season, getting 22 goals, 12 assists, and 18 bonus points to finish with 259 points. He once again finished on the podium, 21 points ahead of the second-placed Eden Hazard, who finished with 238 points.

Salah got only 18 bonus points and didn’t feature even among the top 10 for bonus points despite finishing with the most points. This is mainly due to the fact that the Liverpool team had quite a few good FPL options, which meant heavy competition for bonus points.

The 18/19 dream team had six Liverpool players, no other dream team has more players from a single team. This was also the first season a defender scored more than 200 points, with both Van Dijk (208 points) & Robertson (213 points) scoring 200+ points. Robertson’s record of 213 points is still the highest a defender has scored in a season.

Liverpool also came agonisingly close to winning their first Premier League title in the 18/19 season and finished just one point behind champions Man City (97 points)

Liverpool did enjoy some success as they won the Champions League for the first time since 2005 by beating fellow Premier League side Spurs 2-0 in the final, with Salah scoring a second-minute goal.

The battle for the top spot was tight with Mo Salah eventually finishing with 231 points, which was the 3rd highest score in the end behind Bruno Fernandes (244 points), Harry Kane(242 points)

Fun Fact: Mo Salah has never blanked in a GW1 fixture during his nine seasons at Liverpool.

Highest scoring player in the season

After missing out on finishing as the highest scoring player in the previous season, Salah reclaimed the top spot with 265 points in the 21/22 season with 23 goals and 14 assists.

Salah started the season strongly with a 17-point haul vs Norwich. In GW9 that season, Salah delivered an iconic 24-points haul against Man United at Old Trafford in a 5-0 win for Liverpool. He also reached 100 points by GW9, the joint fastest to the milestone in FPL history along with Haaland(22/23)

Throughout his time at Liverpool, Salah enjoyed playing Man United and scored the most points (136) against them.

Liverpool, however, missed out on the League title to Man City by just one point and also suffered a heartbreak in the Champions League final against Real Madrid, losing 1-0 to the Spanish club.

Note: Salah was involved in AFCON and missed a few games as a result of it.

His highest score in this season was against Man United, registering 21 points in a 7-0 win. 22/23 was also the season Haaland made his move to Man City and finished as the highest scoring player with 272 points. Another FPL legend, Harry Kane, finished 2nd with 263 points in his last season for Spurs. Kane is the 8th highest scoring player in FPL history with 1891 points. Kane is also the only player to earn over 30 bonus points a season on six separate occasions.

7th highest scoring player in the season

Salah had a comparatively quiet 23/24 season, with AFCON & injuries meant he only played 32 games. In DGW25, Salah returned from injury and came in as a substitute in the first game vs Brentford and got a goal & assist. But he missed the 2nd due to another injury issue.

This was also Klopp’s last season at Liverpool, with Salah well ahead of other players for FPL points scored during Klopp’s time at the club.

Highest scoring player in the season

Salah was simply unstoppable during the 24/25 season. He scored a whopping 29 goals and registered 18 assists, enabling him to score 344 FPL points. Salah went past his own record of most FPL points in a season, which he set in 17/18 with 303 points. He also became the fastest player to reach 150 and 200 FPL points, and also set the record for most bonus points in a season (55 points)

Fun Fact: This was the first time Salah scored more than 30 bonus points in a season.

He delivered a memorable 29 points haul in double gameweek 24 against Bournemouth and Everton, 1.09 million FPL managers triple captained him for the double (The 2nd most triple captained player in a Gameweek). During GW25, Salah crossed Steven Gerrard‘s tally of 2,044 points(4th highest ever in FPL history), becoming Liverpool’s highest-scoring FPL player.

Fun Fact: Salah broke the record for most points in an FPL season with nine matches to go, but went quiet in the later stages of the season. He could have had more!

25/26 Season: £14.5 Million, 97 points*

After Salah’s record-breaking 24/25 season, FPL priced Salah at 14.5 million for the 25/26 season. This was the first time in FPL that a midfielder was priced more than 14.0 million. Salah started the season with a goal, continuing his record of returning in every GW1 fixture at Liverpool.

However, the returns dried up, and Liverpool’s attack did not click like in previous seasons. Salah also ended up missing six games due to AFCON. During the March International break, Salah announced that he’ll be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, bringing an end to a glorious 9-year association with Liverpool.

Most FPL Points in History:

Rooney – 2338 points (491 games)

Lampard – 2318 points (424 games)

Salah – 2219 points (323 games, 7 games left) (189 goals, 103 assists)

Gerrard – 2044 points (402 games)

Note: Salah also scored 34 FPL points during his time at Chelsea.

At the beginning of his last season, Salah was on 2119 FPL points and only needed another 220 points to beat Wayne Rooney‘s record of most points scored (2338 points) in FPL history.

Salah will most likely finish the season with fewer than 200 points, which will be the first time it happens since he joined Liverpool, and also means he’ll not break Rooney’s record for most FPL points.

However, Salah scored more points per game than both Rooney(1st) and Lampard(2nd), who played more games than the Liverpool legend.
