Marcus Thuram has been one of the frustrating parts of Inter Milan’s Serie A season. Newcastle United are increasingly being put forward as a suitor to sign the Frenchman.
The striker has scored 12 times in all competitions, finding the net seven times in Serie A. But his general performances have dropped, with criticism aimed at him for missing big opportunities across the campaign.
This led to Corriere dello Sport reporting earlier this week that his release clause of €85m might not even be relevant anymore. Sport Witness covered interest from Newcastle United, with Aston Villa also in the race.
Now, talk is growing in Italy that Thuram will be on his way out of Inter. Big question marks are emerging about his general attitude and motivation as well.

It is believed the striker has ‘lost all motivation’ for the Nerazzurri, with his attitude found wanting in big games. He is often seen not putting in enough effort, simply strolling around in the final third.
His last league goal came against Sassuolo on 8th February, making Inter question his future at the club.
The outlet believe €65m wil be enough for suitors, with Newcastle United ‘particularly interested’ in a summer move. There is confidence that the striker’s hefty release clause will not be applicable, especially if he fails to pick up his performances.
That clause is actually valid only until the end of July. This is making Inter consider the situation, as they want to make as much as possible from a sale.
Our take: Deal can be cheaper than €65m
Inter signed Marcus Thuram on a free transfer, which means that anything they earn will go down as capital profit. As they failed in the Champions League this season, it is very possible they consider one major exit.
Thuram’s departure will make perfect sense, from a financial perspective. He can hand Inter the biggest capital gain, and Newcastle United can probably sign him for less than €65m.
A lot will depend on how he ends the season but the Italian media are seriously questioning the player now. This has never happened before and it seems to be the beginning of Thuram’s end at the San Siro.
