Thiago has made it clear how special a moment it was to share a pitch with Steven Gerrard in a Liverpool shirt, following their starring role at Anfield.
The LFC Legends drew 2-2 with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday afternoon, with Jurgen Klopp making a hugely popular return to Merseyside.
In terms of standout players at Anfield, Thiago and Gerrard combined with their enduring quality in midfield, with the Spaniard opening the scoring with a precise finish after a trademark no-look pass.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com after the game, Thiago couldn’t hide his delight at sharing the turf with an all-time great Liverpool player in Gerrard, calling it an “unbelievable” experience.
“It’s amazing,” Thiago gushed.
“Two things got together – that is a full Anfield and playing with this legend [Gerrard].
“It was an unbelievable moment and I will keep it with me for sure.
“When I scored, Stevie came and I told him it was the first sprinting I did since I arrived in Liverpool! Why not?!
“In that moment we just react, we are comfortable in the box. It’s nice to score.”

Thiago may have gushed over Gerrard, but the former Liverpool captain also made it clear how much he was looking forward to playing with him before the match.
“We love him, we love watching him play,” Gerrard said.
“Fantastic technical player, and when I found out he was involved, it gave me a big lift.
“We need to recruit well. We’re not get any younger, so we need some young fresh legs in there.
“We’re delighted to have him.”
Two of Liverpool’s great midfielders have still got it!

It was a joy to watch Thiago and Gerrard strutting their stuff at Anfield again, with the pair not losing any of their technical brilliance.
One glorious moment of link-up play almost led to the former scoring with a back-heeled effort in the first half, and they gelled with one another all afternoon.
Thiago is still only 34 years of age – the same as Virgil van Dijk – so it was no great surprise to see him run the show against Dortmund.

Gerrard, at 45, has over a decade on him, however, but he still looks enviably fit for his age and is still brimming with quality on the ball.
It was a great afternoon at Anfield, with the annual event raising funds for the LFC Foundation, and families able to watch some great players of the past, including Sami Hyypia and Dirk Kuyt.
What under-fire head coach Arne Slot would give to have peak versions of Gerrard and Thiago in his Liverpool midfield this season!
