A Leeds United ace has been overlooked internationally.
Leeds United midfielder Brenden Aaronson was not called for as his USA side suffered a bruising defeat amid a Whites relegation rivals subplot.
Aaronson has been one of Whites boss Daniel Farke’s most used players so far this season, the American making 24 league starts and six outings from the bench for nearly 2000 minutes of Premier League football.
Capped 56 times for his country, Aaronson is again part of the current USA squad who faced an international friendly against Belgium on Saturday night at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
USA boss Mauricio Pochettino named Aaronson on his bench for Saturday’s game and his side went 1-0 up in the 39th-minute as ex-Leeds midfielder Weston McKennie netted from an Antonee Robinson corner.
Belgium, though, drew level just before half-time through Zeno Debast and the visitors then ran riot after the break netting four more times before Patrick Agyemang struck a late consolation.
Pochettino made eight substitutions during the contest with seven of those coming after the restart but Aaronson was not called for in a rare day off.
Pochettino continues to be linked with the job at United’s key relegation rivals Tottenham.
