Lewis Hall has arguably been Newcastle United’s best player this season.
Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy has claimed Lewis Hall is good enough to play for Real Madrid.
Newcastle United supporters can rightfully feel annoyed by the intense speculation surrounding their top stars. The likes of Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon and Tino Livramento have been linked with moves away throughout the campaign.
Recent weeks have seen Manchester United express interest in Bruno Guimaraes and Lewis Hall. NewcastleWorld understands any move for the Toon skipper appears wide of the mark, with St James’ Park chiefs also keen to tie Hall down on improved terms.
Jason Cundy on Lewis Hall
The 21-year-old has arguably been Newcastle’s best player this season and caught international attention for pocketing Barcelona superstar Lamine Yamal earlier this month. Ex-Chelsea defender Cundy - who watched Hall develop as a youngster at Stamford Bridge - believes he is good enough to play for La Liga giants Madrid.
“Consistently, Lewis Hall has been, without a doubt, the best English left-back in the country,” he told talkSPORT. “He has had a brilliant season. He’s top drawer all over the pitch. He attacks, his positional sense, his weight of cross, his pass, his energy levels…
“He knows when to support the wide man, knows when to overlap, he’s a brilliant player. Lewis Hall, from when I saw him at Chelsea to now, he could actually move to a top five or six club in the world.
“I think he’s got that in him. I’m not joking, he could be at Real Madrid. I think he could be that good. It’s a big statement, but I’ve seen him develop and, Newcastle fans won’t thank me for saying this, but he really is that good.
“I think he could (play for Real Madrid). You think about other left-backs around the world, we’ll see this summer where he really is. He is top, top drawer.”
“There’s two ways you can look at it, it can be quite nerve-racking knowing that this is the last opportunity to maybe impress,” Hall said.
Lewis Hall on England duty
Hall is currently on England duty and earned his third cap as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with Uruguay last night. Ahead of the clash, the left-back admitted to feeling nervous as he knows this could be his last chance to impress before the World Cup.
“But at the same time, I think you play so many games in the season, I think they all know the way that you like to play,” Hall told reporters. “And I think this is just another chance for you to show not only what you can do on the pitch, but what you’re like off the pitch.
“And I think if you can spread positivity across the group, and I think he’s always been keen on making sure that everyone in the group has their part to play off the pitch. So I’m just looking to be as happy as possible and enjoy my football here. Hopefully it will put me in a good position.”
