Qualifying success and heartbreak for international Cherries - round up

There was more qualifying success for Cherries elsewhere, as Veljko Milosavljevic’s Serbia U19s have impressed in their Euros qualifiers.

Serbia began the elite round of qualification with a 2-0 win over England, with Milosavljevic playing the full 90 minutes.

The Cherries centre back then played a key role in his country’s 1-1 draw with Portugal to keep them firmly in the hunt for qualification.

Milosavljevic scored the Serbia equaliser with 35 minutes to play, after they had gone behind after four minutes.

Serbia next play Poland on Tuesday in their final game, where they will aim to beat the bottom-placed side in their group to earn qualification.

Alex Jimenez helped Spain’s U21s maintain their perfect record in their Euros qualifying group, as they smashed Cyprus 7-0 on Friday.

Jimenez came off the bench with just under half an hour to play in Larnaca, and he provided an assist for Joel Roca as Spain completed their rout of their hosts.

Spain next face Kosovo at home on Tuesday.

Junior Kroupi was not involved in France U21’s 5-1 win over Luxembourg.

Ryan Christie came off the bench in the 63rd minute as Scotland were beaten 1-0 by Japan at Hampden to begin their World Cup preparations.

Junya Ito scored a late winner for the visitors, with Scotland next set to face Cote d’Ivoire on Tuesday.

Marcos Senesi played the full 90 minutes as Argentina edged out Mauritania in a friendly with a nervy performance in Buenos Aires.

Argentina will be hoping for an improved performance when they face Zambia in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Alex Toth started for Hungary in their 1-0 victory over Slovenia, and he played 64 minutes at the Puskas Arena. Up next for Hungary is the visit of Greece on Tuesday.

That game could see Christos Mandas line up for the visitors against his Cherries teammate, although the keeper was an unused substitute in their 1-0 defeat to Paraguay on Friday.

Fellow Bournemouth keeper Djordje Petrovic was also an unused substitute as Serbia were beaten 3-0 by Spain on Friday.

Serbia host Saudi Arabia next on Tuesday.

Rayan is waiting to make his Brazil debut after he was an unused substitute in their 2-1 friendly defeat to France.

Amine Adli, too, was an unused substitute in Morocco’s 1-1 draw with Ecuador. They next play Paraguay on Tuesday.
