'Set to move': West Ham eye £8m Axel Disasi alternative as five Premier League clubs circle

West Ham are reportedly interested in signing young defender Roggerio Nyakossi in the summer transfer window.

The Hammers were linked with the Switzerland U21s captain in January and continue to keep track of him.

Nyakossi could be a significantly cheaper alternative to Axel Disasi, who has excelled on loan at the London Stadium.

West Ham maintain interest in Roggerio Nyakossi

Nyakossi is a 22-year-old centre-back at OH Leuven in the Belgian Pro League, linked with many top clubs around Europe.

The Swiss defender has emerged as a key player for Leuven in the 2025/26 season, starting 16 of their last 19 league games.

At 6 feet 4 inches tall, Nyakossi provides a physical presence to the backline and has also scored three goals this season.

According to The Sun, his performances have attracted interest from six Premier League clubs: Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton, Fulham, Crystal Palace, and West Ham.

Given that Nyakossi’s contract will expire at the end of the 2026/27 season, Leuven will probably look to cash in on him this summer.

A transfer fee in the region of £8 million is expected to be enough to convince the Belgian side to sell.

West Ham will undoubtedly struggle to see off so much competition for his signature, but they can assure him regular first-team minutes.

If the East London club decide not to make Axel Disasi’s loan move permanent, Nyakossi could find a place in the starting XI.

It will be interesting to see how the transfer saga plays out, with the Hammers among many clubs in the race to sign Nyakossi.
