Manchester United continue to be linked with Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali and reports from Italy suggest he may have risen to the top of Ineos’ shopping list.
Ahead of the summer transfer window, Manchester United’s search for central midfield targets is heating up.
Many reports have claimed that Elliot Anderson is United’s top target, but rival interest from Manchester City means the narrative is slowly changing.
United have been linked with Sandro Tonali as a long-term replacement for Casemiro, and it seems the Italian could now be Ineos’ top choice.

Man Utd are prioritising Sandro Tonali deal
According to Italian journalist Matteo Moretto, who often works closely with Fabrizio Romano, Tonali has become a priority target for United.
Moretto has claimed on X that Tonali is now at the “top of Manchester United’s wishlist” ahead of the summer.
He adds that the feasibility of a deal will become clear “in the coming weeks”, with Tonali valued at 100 million Euros (£87 million) by Newcastle.

Just like Anderson, though, Manchester City are in the Tonali race, meaning that United have competition for the Italy international’s signature.
Tonali recently starred for Italy over the international break, and United will surely be keeping a close eye on the 25-year-old before making a move for him this summer.

Sandro Tonali is a perfect fit for current Man Utd squad
Ideally, United need a duel-winning midfielder who fits into the starting XI alongside Kobbie Mainoo.
Tonali complements Mainoo’s style of play because of his incredible running power and physicality. Mainoo could play more expansively in possession knowing that Tonali is alongside him to fill any gaps.
Additionally, Bruno Fernandes wants to play with Tonali and he has green-lighted a deal for the Italian.

Ineos are currently trying to convince Fernandes to stay at United and it seems signing Tonali would be a big bonus for the Red Devils captain.
That midfield trio of Mainoo, Tonali and Fernandes is enough to lead a Premier League title charge in line with Ineos’ Project 150.
