There's only one option for Mohamed Salah's next destination after Liverpool - opinion

Most of the talk regarding Mo Salah leaving has centred around who to sign in his place, but fans will be almost as fascinated with where the Liverpool legend will go next.

There will be no shortage of suitors for the Egyptian, who, despite struggling for form this season, still clearly has quality that can strengthen most sides in the world.

Salah was linked with New York City FC, though no discussions have taken place. Saudi Arabia has long been viewed as the obvious choice given his revered status in that part of the world.

You can only pick ONE player for Liverpool to sign this summer, who is it?

Jamie Carragher suggested Inter Milan for Salah, and he might be onto something. The Serie A feels like the perfect choice for him.

Mohamed Salah should return to Serie A

The quality of the Italian league has been steadily dropping in the past few years. It is no longer the preferred destination for superstars in their prime, as it was 20 years ago.

There has been a trend, though, of stars entering their twilight years and finding success in the slower-paced Serie A. Kevin de Bruyne and Luka Modric are good examples.

We also see players who have struggled in the Premier League go to Italy and rediscover form. Think of Christian Pulisic, Rasmus Hojlund and most notably, Scott McTominay. Salah is leagues ahead of them in terms of quality, but it does show a pattern.

MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES

When you look at the teams competing for Europe, Salah could carve out a key role in most if not all of them. Whatever you have made of his play at Liverpool this season, that knack for finding goals and creating chances isn’t lost with age. If anything, it gets sharper with age.

There is a world in which I see Salah starting in next season’s Champions League, but with who?

Salah’s potential Serie A destinations

Inter is a solid suggestion. They are the best team in the division and the fact that they play with wing-backs and two strikers could actually work in Salah’s favour, moving more centrally as he loses some of that explosiveness.

AC Milan have quite a lot of wide talent, but I could see it. Como are the rogue shout, but their performances under Cesc Fabregas and third-place standing in the league make it an intriguing option.

How many points do you think Liverpool will finish with this season?

It's going to be a LOT less than last year 😬

RTK two line question

How crazy would it be to see De Bruyne and Salah on the same team at Napoli? Absolute cinema.

The best choice, in my opinion, is actually Juventus. Liverpool want Francisco Conceicao, who the Turin outfit would need to replace if the move goes through. Salah at Juventus feels like a good fit, and it would give some much-needed experience to the side.

The only problem is that they are currently outside of the Champions League places, and if Salah is going to stay in Europe, you’d imagine that is one of his non-negotiables.
