Opinion: David Moyes must complete this Everton checkpoint before the summer transfer window

Everton have a couple of weeks off until they are back in Premier League action.

David Moyes’ side are next in action on the 11th of April against Brentford, so the Everton manager has a bit of downtime.

Which former Everton target do you wish the club had signed? 🫣

Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay.

Ahead of the final seven games of the season, Moyes and his staff should aim to tick off this key checkpoint before the summer transfer window.

It’ll help bring clarity in their transfer plans and hopefully strengthen their chances of finishing the season strongly.

Give Adam Aznou a chance to assess if Everton need to sign a left-back

Adam Aznou hasn’t had a sniff this season despite impressing during his sole Everton appearance against Sunderland in the FA Cup earlier this year.

Moyes has said he wants Aznou to develop physically, and it’s also clear, given that he gave him his one appearance as a winger, that he wants more from him defensively.

So, the Scotsman should help the Moroccan to understand his left-back positioning and other intricate details during the final few months of the campaign.

It’d be a real bonus if Aznou can get some game time over these next couple of months, as he can provide the Toffees with more of an attacking threat down the left-hand side compared to Vitalii Mykolenko.

Mykolenko has been a liability at times this term, so he can certainly be upgraded on.

It’d also help Moyes and his recruitment chiefs to decide if they really do need to sign another left-back.

Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly has been linked to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and his potential arrival could cost in excess of £40m.

Mykolenko is also out of contract this summer, so there needs to be clarity on whether Aznou can step up if the Ukrainian departs.
