Former West Ham United midfielder Kevin Nolan has heaped praise on current Hammers star Crysencio Summerville, who is enjoying a spell-binding season.
West Ham are still in the bottom three in the Premier League table, but they have clawed back some important results over the past few weeks.
Summerville’s form has played a key role in this uptick in performances.
He has bounced back from a difficult 2024/25 season to bag seven goals and four assists in 27 appearances this term.
He will be key to their chances of breaking out of the relegation zone and securing their Premier League status at least for another year.
Nolan recognised the role he is playing and described him as ‘incredible in this run-in’ after the host had hailed the Dutchman as ‘absolutely phenomenal.’
The 43-year-old reserved praise for the recruitment team, lauding their winter window transfer additions.
He went on to praise Nuno Espirito Santo’s tactics. The Portuguese tactician’s deep-block system has created a platform for Summerville and Jarrod Bowen to shine on the wings.
However, it is worth noting that even though renewed belief can be a powerful force at this stage of the season, it guarantees absolutely nothing.
Momentum can disappear just as quickly as it arrives, especially in a relegation scrap where margins are razor-thin.
West Ham cannot afford to get carried away with a brief uptick in form. They must take the bull by the horns over [the final seven games](https://westhamblog.co.uk/west-ham-uniteds-fight-for-survival-it-all-comes-down-to-seven-matches/) and turn promise into points.
Survival will not be handed to them. Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest may be in worse shape, but that only presents an opportunity, not a safety net.
The Hammers must show urgency, resilience, and a ruthless edge in both boxes if they are to climb above their struggling rivals.
This is where character defines seasons. If Summerville continues to deliver and the system holds firm, West Ham have a fighting chance.
