West Ham fans have everything crossed that their talismanic winger [Crysencio Summerville](https://www.claretandhugh.info/west-ham-rocked-as-summerville-faces-double-blow/) makes a full recovery and continues his rich vein of form through to the end of the season. With the FA Cup quarter final and Premier League run-in fast approaching, the Hammers have already shown a tendency to struggle in front of goal without their flying Dutchman.
Summerville’s form has been scintillating – and not been going unnoticed further afield. It seems that Irons’ fans concerns about Liverpool seeking to replace Mo Salah with West Ham’s captain **Jarrod Bowen** are somewhat misplaced.
Former Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has made it very clear who he thinks the Reds should be recruiting to take over from their iconic Egyptian.
_“Gerrard nominates surprise West Ham youngster to replace Salah at Liverpool”_

Runs the headline in [tribalfootball.com.](https://www.tribalfootball.com/article/soccer-premier-league-gerrard-nominates-surprised-west-ham-youngster-to-replace-salah-at-liverpool-90592803-c8cd-4422-9017-1f2946a1efe5)
_“..Asked about a replacement, Gerrard suggested West Ham winger **Crysencio Summerville.**_
_He told TNT: “I’m a fan of Summerville. He’s brilliant in the one-on-one.”_
_“He looks hungry and has proved a bright spot in a team fighting relegation. He also only got better as the season progressed. I think Bowen is a great player, but I don’t think he has the level to replace Salah._
_“A winger has to get to the top three, four in the world to succeed him with dignity. Because that is the level that Salah reached at Liverpool”_
Which is indeed both a compliment to the player and a warning to the West Ham fanbase: Surviving relegation on its own may not be the only battle West Ham have to fight this year.
Manchester United want Fernandes, Liverpool want Summerville and West Ham’s board need cash.
Sobering thought for a Monday morning if ever there was one.
