The Seagulls midfielder missed England under-21s’ disappointing 1-1 draw with Andorra on Friday.
He had been put forward for media duties at St George's Park early in the week but was a surprise absentee on matchday.

National team coach Lee Carsley said Hinshelwood had left the squad due to injury.
The Argus were advised on Saturday evening that the issue was very minor and his withdrawal was purely precautionary.
Hinshelwood helped England under-21s win the Euros last summer from left-back and has recently been impressing for his club in an advanced midfield role.
Albion will be keen to have him available as they head into two games without suspended skipper Lewis Dunk.
They return to action on what will be Hinshelwood’s 21st birthday when they visit Burnley on April 11.
The game would see him play at the venue where his father Adam made his senior Albion league debut on the first day of the 2002-03 season.
Speaking ahead of the current international window, Albion boss Fabian Hurzeler said: “I hope all the national teams take care of our players because I think we give them in really good shape to them and hopefully they come back in good shape.
“Therefore, everyone has responsibility now.”
Albion players who were not on international duty were given a week off after the 2-1 win over Liverpool.
They can expect a tough programme on their return and the build-up to the Burnley trip will include at least one full-scale in-house practice match once all players have returned.
