Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Sandro Tonali would be ‘open’ to joining Manchester United from Newcastle United this summer.
He adds the 25-year-old has been placed ‘very high’ on INEOS’ shortlist as they start seriously scouring the market for a suitable Casemiro successor.
It comes as a substantial blow for Newcastle, who now look poised to lose their £55 million investment after only three years, 10 months of which he spent out of action due to his betting ban.
On the plus side for the Magpies, United potentially signing Tonali would mean that Bruno Guimaraes, who’s also been linked with an Old Trafford switch, is almost certain to stay; they had reportedly made it clear that there was no chance of both midfielders leaving in one window.
