With several clubs on the hunt for elite midfield signings this summer, the transfer landscape could quickly change depending on which players become available as moves are completed. United also hold a strong interest in Nottingham Forest ace Elliot Anderson, but if he completes a move to Man City, then Tonali would likely become the new top midfield target.

Taking to social media on Monday morning, notorious transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano issued an update on Tonali and claimed the player would be open to an Old Trafford move this summer.

The player would be open to the move,” Romano wrote. “Elliot Anderson, another name on shortlist but Manchester City are still ahead — with very serious interest. Man City and Arsenal, both also informed on Tonali situation.”
