Mo Salah warned off move by Egypt director: “Heard about offers from PSG & Bayern Munich”

Mo Salah has been urged not to move to MLS by the Egyptian national team director, Ibrahim Hassan, who wants the Liverpool winger to stay in Europe.

At 33 years old, Salah will call time on his Liverpool career this summer and seek a new challenge.

While there has been a considerable drop-off in performances this season, it was only 12 months ago that we were calling him the world’s best, and there will be plenty of suitors upon his exit.

His wages could be an issue for most clubs, though, with the Egyptian earning around £450,000 per week at Liverpool – a figure not many can match.

MLS and Saudi Arabia have been touted as possible destinations, but Egypt national team director Hassan, twin brother of the Pharaohs’ manager, Hossam Hassan, has warned Salah off leaving the elite leagues.

“Personally, I would prefer him to stay in Europe,” the Egypt director told On Sport (via Reuters).

“I have heard about offers from Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and clubs in the Italian league.

“A move to MLS? He would be far too out of the spotlight. You won’t remember Salah any more than I remember [Lionel] Messi now; I don’t even try to watch him.

“If he does not receive offers from Europe, then a move to the Saudi league would be a good option, especially with big names such as Cristiano (Ronaldo).”

Mo Salah has not yet decided his next club

Wherever Salah does decide to go is unlikely to be influenced too greatly by the Egyptian national team.

Liverpool’s No. 11 already has 117 caps for Egypt, including the Olympic Games, and should remain their captain even if he goes to play at a lower level towards the end of his club career.

No transfer has yet been agreed with any club and his agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, has said to be aware of attention seekers claiming otherwise.

“We do not know where Mohamed will play next season,” Salah’s agent wrote online.

“This also means that no one else knows. Beware of the click-whoring attention seekers.”

Given his competitive nature, there will be a part of Salah that still wants to test himself in Europe. However, his wages may be more forthcoming from the US or the Middle East.

There has already been lots of interest shown, with MLS Commissioner Don Garber previously saying he would like to see Salah in the USA, while Saudi clubs have long pursued his signature.
