Wrexham have reportedly taken a surprise interest in Leeds United forward Mateo Joseph.
The 22-year-old has been on the books at Elland Road for over four years, having made the switch to West Yorkshire from Espanyol in January 2022.
He moved into the senior set-up after starring at youth level, but it has not exactly been plain-sailing for Joseph in the men’s game.
After starting the 2024/25 campaign as Daniel Farke’s first-choice forward, he was dislodged by Joel Piroe and could only play a bit-part role in the club’s Championship title triumph.

Wrexham linked with Leeds United forward
According to MOT Leeds News, he has cropped up on Wrexham’s radar as they plan for the possibility of life in the Premier League.
The Red Dragons have enjoyed a remarkable rise from non-league football and currently sit just outside the Championship play-offs.
A move for Joseph is said to be something Wrexham are lining up to complete if they manage to secure promotion.
Mateo Joseph’s summer exit request
There was no buy clause inserted in the deal that took Joseph to Mallorca in the summer. He has been rated highly at Elland Road for a number of years, but Whites boss Daniel Farke was caught off-guard by his exit request.

“We really value and rate him, otherwise we wouldn’t have played him, especially at the beginning of the last successful campaign, ahead of Golden Boot-winner Joel Piroe, ahead of an experienced striker like Patrick Bamford.
“We just want players who are excited about the project, to play for Leeds United in the best league in the world, who want to be here with us and want to be successful with us. If this is more or less your wish, I, as your manager won’t stand in the way.”
