De Zerbi open to joining Spurs as new permanent head coach

Former Brighton & Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi is open to joining beleaguered Tottenham Hotspur as their new permanent head coach, according to Sky in Italy.

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that the 46-year-old is open to evaluating a five-year contract proposal from Spurs, who are searching for a third managerial appointment of the season following Igor Tudor's dismissal on Sunday.

Sky Sports News understands Tottenham would prefer to make a permanent appointment after Tudor's calamitous 44-day spell in charge.

Spurs sit just one point above the Premier League relegation zone with seven games remaining.

De Zerbi, who is available following his exit from French outfit Marseille in February, made his name with Brighton after leading them to their highest ever top-flight finish of sixth, and subsequently into the Europa League for the first time ever.

But the Italian's start at the Seagulls, following the departure of Graham Potter to Chelsea in September 2022, would suggest he might struggle to have the required impact at relegation-threatened Tottenham.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk boss failed to win any of his first five Premier League games in charge of Albion, drawing twice and losing three games.
