Fabrizio Romano delivers fresh Sandro Tonali to Man Utd claim after Newcastle United 'agreement'

Newcastle United transfers: Fabrizio Romano has issued a fresh transfer update regarding Manchester United’s interest in Sandro Tonali.

Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali is ‘very high’ on Manchester United’s transfer shortlist ahead of the summer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Tonali, who is under contract at Newcastle until 2030, has been heavily linked with a move away from the club this summer.

Sandro Tonali exit ‘very likely’

It comes after repeated comments from Tonali’s agent Giuseppe Riso linking his client with a move away from the club.

Riso recently said in the Italian media that a summer move away from Newcastle is ‘very likely’.

Now, Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has added more fuel to the speculation surrounding the Newcastle midfielder by claiming he would be open to a move with Manchester United and Arsenal interested.

Fabrizio Romano makes Sandro Tonali transfer claim

“Newcastle also expect movement around Sandro Tonali this summer and Newcastle know that the player could be open to making a new experience.

“In Italy, there is interest from Juventus, but for Italian clubs, it's really complicated, really unlikely to be able to make it happen. So it's really, really complicated.

“For Premier League clubs it might be different. Arsenal have an interest in Sandro Tonali, that's confirmed, but they never made any attempt to sign him in January because it was always impossible. So Arsenal keep following the situation, but at the moment from Arsenal still nothing advanced.

“Man United already confirmed their interest to the player's camp, so some contact already took place between Manchester United and Sandro Tonali's camp.

“So for sure Sandro Tonali is appreciated by Manchester United and something has already happened to be informed about the player.

Then there is nothing agreed, there is nothing advanced, there is nothing done, so it's still early stages, but Sandro Tonali for sure is high on Manchester United short list, is a player appreciated, and it's a destination that for sure Tonali could eventually, if all parties are able to get closer, appreciate.”

Romano also mentioned Manchester City as a potential destination for Tonali though they are currently leading the race to sign former Newcastle midfielder Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest.
