Alan Myers urges Friedkin Group to make Everton announcement amid 'real concern' among fans

Everton are genuine contenders for Europe heading into the final seven games of the Premier League season.

David Moyes’ side are currently residing in eighth place, one point behind Brentford in seventh and just two adrift of sixth-placed Chelsea.

Give us your gut feeling… will Everton make it into Europe? 🌍

Everton are actually only three points behind Merseyside rivals Liverpool, who occupy fifth place, so Champions League football isn’t even off the cards.

The Friedkin Group’s other owned club, AS Roma, are also in the mix for Europe, so naturally that’s brought some concern among Toffees supporters.

UEFA rules don’t allow two clubs under the same ownership to compete in the same European competition.

With that said, Alan Myers has urged the American investors to give the fans some clarity on the situation.

Everton and AS Roma fans need clarity on the European situation

In Myers’ exclusive Everton News column, he explained that the Friedkins will more than likely have addressed the European situation with UEFA, so that message should be communicated with the fanbase.

“The ‘Everton/Roma in the same competition’ issue is on the minds of most supporters and not just Evertonians,” Myers stated.

“I cannot believe for a second that they haven’t addressed this both internally and with UEFA, as it’s becoming more likely with each passing week.

“There can be no excuses for any lack of understanding following the Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest debacle, that has served as an instructors’ manual for any clubs finding themselves in this position.

“I know many would like to hear from the club to get some more clarity as to where Everton stands on the issue.

I get the cautious approach with regards to talking about something that hasn’t been achieved yet, but it’s of real concern for the fans and I think they would appreciate some peace of mind.”

Indeed, there is still a lot to do for Everton to realise their European dreams.

A rough calculation suggests the Toffees will need around 60 points to qualify for Europe, so they’ll have to end the season strongly.
