The former Albion boss has been heavily linked to Premier League relegation candidates Spurs.
After just seven games, Spurs and former manager Igor Tudor have mutually agreed to part ways. This followed the death of Igor's father, Mario.
He received that personal news shortly after Tottenham's 3–0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday, March 22nd.
Now, the man who got Brighton into the Europa League is poised to become the Spurs head coach, reports say.
According to Sky Sports Italy, conversations are expected to take place with De Zerbi over a five-year contract proposal from Spurs. This comes after previous reports suggested the Italian would consider the role after Premier League survival was guaranteed.
In fact, Sky reported that Roberto would not consider any managerial roles until the season ends.
This followed his departure from Marseille.
De Zerbi took over the French side after departing Albion in 2024. In that time, he led Marseille to a second-place finish in Ligue 1. However, the ex-Brighton boss left the club in February after a string of poor results. This included a 5-0 defeat against league leaders PSG.
De Zerbi would be the Tottenham's third managerial appointment of the season, as they look to avoid the drop.
Currently, Tottenham find themselves in 17th position in the Premier League table. With just seven games remaining, one point separates them from the drop zone and West Ham.
In their second fixture after the international break, The Seagulls face Spurs away.
With De Zerbi heavily linked to Spurs, there's a chance he faces his old club, Brighton.
