Wrexham are being linked with a surprise move for Leeds United forward Mateo Joseph. The big-spending Welsh club are pushing for an unprecedented fourth successive promotion to complete a remarkable rise from non league to the Premier League.
Should they reach the promised land, the club will of course invest further into their squad. That investment may lead them the way of Spanish forward Joseph, according to a report by MOT Leeds News, who say the striker is on Wrexham's watchlist.
Leeds allowed Joseph to leave in the summer after he initially caught the club off guard by asking to leave. A season-long loan deal at Mallorca was soon arranged, but there are no clauses in the deal that will see him stay at the Spanish club more permanently and as things stand he is expected to return to Elland Road this summer.
Joseph has not made the biggest of impressions in La Liga this season with two goals from 29 appearances, but the 22-year-old is well liked at Mallorca.
Having signed his latest contract extension at Leeds in January 2024, Joseph still has two more years on his deal, with Leeds no doubt wanting a transfer fee that recognises that fact. The player has already made it clear his preference is to stay at Mallorca, saying recently; “I’d like to continue being happy here. When you’re happy somewhere, why change? It doesn’t depend much on me because I have a contract with another club. We’ll see what the future holds for me.”

While Farke has expressed before that he is an admirer of Joseph, it is highly unlikely the forward will play for Leeds again even with his summer return expected.
