Return to Leeds United on the way – Director makes decision over transfer

Jack Harrison’s move to Fiorentina on loan from Leeds United was seen as a major opportunity for the player in January. Things have gone quite wrong since then, with the player having failed to impress.

Sport Witness covered the deal extensively, as La Viola desperately filled in the need for a new attacking player during their battle with relegation.

While the Englishman had a bright point early in the tenure, he has struggled since then. He’s started four games, coming off the bench twice. Despite the trust shown by Paolo Vanoli, he hasn’t impacted games like Fiorentina expected.

The Florence club have an option to buy the Leeds United player for€7m and it is unlikely that it will be exercised.

Confidence about Elland Road return

Corriere dello Sport report on Fiorentina’s summer dealings, appearing certain that Manor Solomon will be signed permanently from Tottenham. Even if he has faced fitness problems, there are no doubts about his abilities.

For Jack Harrison, there is now very little chance of a permanent deal. Even if La Viola won’t have to pay much to Leeds United, the 29-year-old hasn’t done enough in the past few weeks. Fabio Paratici, who was key to bringing him to Florence, hasn’t been left impressed with his performances either.

Besides, Harrison is costing a significant amount for the second half of the season from Fiorentina’s perspective. His performances don’t justify that wage.

Now, only a major change of heart from Fiorentina can increase the possibility of the Englishman staying in Italy. The newspaper appear very confident that he will return to Leeds United at the end of the campaign.

Our take: Leeds should find suitors in England

It won’t be a surprise if Harrison contributes to some goals for Fiorentina, mainly because he will likely play quite a few games. That won’t guarantee his stay in Florence.

That is why Leeds United should already start looking for new clubs for the player. Due to how well he did under Marcelo Bielsa, Harrison might still have a market in England. Besides, English clubs will also be in a situation to pay more for the player.

Harrison’s playing style has always relied heavily on covering distances and sprinting. That is why he turned out to be very successful under Bielsa. Those traits are more valuable in England than Italy, where players are expected to be more technical and creative than physically robust.
